FAQ: Importing Players

FAQ: Importing Players

Postby Brooks » Mon Jun 22, 2009 12:26 pm

To import players into the game Create a new League and click the button to select an import file. You must point it at a CSV file.

If your import file has players assigned to teams and you want them to stay that way leave the "Place in Draft Pool" box unchecked. If you check that box the game dumps all of the players into the draft pool.

You can find a sample file at http://www.barcodegames.com/ImportPlayers.csv

I just put up a new sample file. I highly suggest using the new version as the old version had some issues with mismatched ratings. Of course it's just a sample, so be sure to import it and run a few seasons to make sure you're getting the results you want.

I am having real trouble getting this to work properly. I can select the file and 'attach' it to the league I am starting, I also have the real NFL teams converted over, however when I start the league it does not seem to load completely (the % installer that pops up as you start the league). It appears to only really hit 10% and then loads the start screen, where the formatting looks completely off (font and graphic display look weird and not part of what the rest of the game shows). I go to a team and despite all the players being there, the OVR are missing and when I click on a player to bring up there stat bars, it spits out an error.

Any help would be appreciated, I am looking to start my own league with a load of friends, but need to make sure it's running ok.

I found an issue with the salary allocation when importing players. It's fixed and an update will be going up soon.

Anybody has luck at this?

I am trying to import one for a 28 team league. I think it may be that I don't have enough players in the file. Anyways, it stated "0" imported from file.

Just wondering if anybody has any solid advice.

Make sure the file isn't already in use. I have trouble when I have it open in Excel and I try importing it at the same time.

I think the issue is the need to use excel and not the office.org program to edit it.

Will try with excel tonight and hopefully everything works out.
